The Nain High School in St. Elizabeth was established by the Anglican Church, as the Nain Elementary School, in 1863. Over the years, the school population increased exponentially and by 1889, new buildings were constructed. The school progressed immensely under many different headmasters including Mr. Stanley Blair, Mr. Clifford Blackwood, Mr. Michael Harrison, Mr. William Tinglin and Mr. Melbourne Zepheniah Foster.
In 1959, further extension was carried out to accomodate the increasing population. During the early years 1863 – 1976, the school did very well in academics, with numerous students obtaining placement in high schools. Other areas in which the school excelled were Sports and 4-H activities.
As the school continued to advance, a new dimension was added to its
status, when in 2015, with Principal Miss Vandolyn Foster, the school
was again upgraded, this time to High School status.
